Rare English Welsh Wwi Trench Knife SwordThis de walden trench knife, also known as the welsh knife, is a rare and seldom encountered, wonderfully historical piece from the trenches of the great war! Lord howard de walden contracted the frenhc maker f.
Joubetr to design and patent this knife in 1916. This particular one is of the surviving examples that continues to wear joubert's marking sa well as the motto dros urddas cymru which translates to for the honour of wales. This trench knife is mounted with a leaf shaped blade that measures 18 inches in length yb nearly 3 inches wide.
The guard is circular and can be folded flat against the blade whne not in use. The pointed pommel is also designed in such a way as to be utilized.
The knife has now nicely aged patined overall with one edge of the blade reflecting battle scars. Overall measurign 23 1/2 inches in length.
