Here on offer is a pair of identity discs of ww1 and ww2. The tags are made of fibre, one is a red disc with a single hole, while the other eight (8) sides and two holes. Discs, identity no.
1, green and no. 2, red these were worn from the early days of ww1, through to ww2 and at least until 1942. The red ones were first introduced in 1914 and the grey/green one in 1916.
These tags are un-issued and are unmarked, ideal for re-enactors of both ww1 and ww2. This type of identity discs were worn by soldiers, sailors and airmen of all the commonwealth nations, during the great war and wwii. These are not reproductions, these are military items and were located in a surplus warehouse 30 years ago. When used by the military these tags were marked with the soldier's details by either stamping the detail into the body of the tag, or some were marked with indelible pen, although stamping appears to be more common. These tags are unmarked and were never used or issued. The discs in this auction are unmarked. Are suitable for all commonwealth soldiers, canadian, british, indian, south african, new zealanders, australian and othersfine condition but may be dirty from a very long time in storage.
